Obituary for Dorothy M. Cahill

BRIMFIELD-Dorothy M. Cahill, 89, of Brimfield, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria. She was born on August 11, 1919, in Jubilee Township to Willard and Alma Dungan Weidner. She married Fabian G. Cahill on February 7, 1942, in Brimfield. He passed away on October 24, 2002, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Jarm and one brother, Rex Weidner. She is survived by one son, Peter (Patsy) Cahill of Brimfield; two daughters, Sharon (Greg) Murphy of Pekin and Kathie (Terry) Holub of Algonquin, IL; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen Lou Lightbody of Peoria. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brimfield. Dorothy loved gardening, flowers and cleaning house. She also loved to shop for her grandchildren. She was very proud of the college degrees her grandchildren achieved through their hard work and dedication. Dorothy’s family would like to thank the Apostolic Christian Skylines Staff and Methodist Hospice Program, especially Nurse Laura. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. Joseph Church in Brimfield with Rev. John Verrier officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Brimfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s CCD Education Fund or Brimfield School District Dream Scholarship Fund.
