Obituary for Donna Tiezzi

PEORIA-Donna Tiezzi, 78, of Peoria, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center of Peoria. Born on August 11, 1932, in Farmington, IL, to Torquato and Camilla Baccheschi Tiezzi. Surviving are six sisters, Louise Bonikowski, Hazel (Eugene) Catteau, Nina Gray, Elda Graves, Virginia (Elwood) Laible, Shirley Kellerstrass; one brother, Guido Tiezzi; as well as three generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Anne Tiezzi, Ella West, Verna Grabinger, her brothers, Joe Tiezzi, Otto (Nick) Tiezzi, and her niece, Sandra Graves. Donna worked 37 years at Caterpillar, Inc., last working in the accounts payable department. She enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and had many friends. She was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed golfing, and loved watching the Chicago Bears, Cubbies, and especially the Bradley Braves. She was a member of the Bradley Chiefs Club. For many years, she was active in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She was an associate member of the School Sisters of St. Francis. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, where a Funeral Mass will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, September 10, 2010, with her nephew, Rev. Jeffrey Laible and Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or School Sisters of St. Francis, 1575 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53215.
