Obituary for Donna L. Salmon
Peoria- Donna L. Salmon, age 82, of Peoria, went home to be with the Lord at 2:45 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Washington Senior Living.
Born April 29, 1939 in Brocton, IL, a daughter to George and Blanche (Wade) Krabel. On September 28, 1957 she married Max N. Salmon in Brocton, IL and together they cherished 63 years until his passing on November 29, 2020. Donna enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life but also worked at Hickory Farms for many years. She loved to knit, and over the years knitted numerous prayer shawls for people needing comfort. Donna was a devout woman of faith and an active member of University United Methodist Church since 1969. Every Wednesday she joined the Coffee & Conversation Group from the church at Panera. Donna was a proud survivor of Breast Cancer, who had a big heart and kind soul and never knew a stranger. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and being around her grandchildren.
Survivors include three children: Juli Palka of Peoria, Dave (Debbie) Salmon on Galveston, TX and Jason (Amber) Salmon of Dunlap; five grandchildren: Madison (Trevor) Johnson, Hannah Palka, Mark and Logan Jenkins and Julian Jordan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max, son-in-law Kevin Palka, and three brothers: Lloyd Krabel, Wayne Krabel and Dale Krabel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at University United Methodist Church. Rev. Ethan Carnes will officiate and burial will follow in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Memorials in Donna’s memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
