Obituary for Donald R. Meinert
Germantown Hills- Donald R. Meinert, age 81, of Germantown Hills, passed away 7:46 PM, Monday, April 3, 2017 at his residence.
Born November 21, 1935 in Dardenne, MO, a son of Aloysius A. and Honora (McLaughlin) Meinert. He married Anita P. Haverich on September 14, 1957 in Laddonia, MO. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters; Tammy (Mark) Bartholomew of Chillicothe, IL., Becky (Mark) Descamps of Washington, IL., and Diana (Dan) Hoehne of Germantown Hills, IL., two sons; Andy (Kim) Meinert of Metamora, IL., and Jody Meinert of San Francisco, CA., eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five sisters; Marcella Heldman and Isabella Matthias, both of Indianapolis, IN., Ruth (Cletus) Heldman of Aberdeen, MD., Thelma Bruce of Phoenix, AZ., and Ann (Pat) Mudd of Mexico, MO. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by three brothers.
Don proudly served in the United States Army and then was a Stationary Engineer at The Peoria Water Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, tinkering with engines and was an avid Cardinal fan. He was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Germantown Hills.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior, also at the chapel. Msgr. Michael Bliss will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
