Obituary for Donald M. Crusen

EAST PEORIA-Donald M. Crusen, 50, of 52 Millpoint Road in East Peoria, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born on December 16, 1958 in Peoria, to Donald E. and Joani Needham Crusen. He is survived by his mother, Joani Crusen of Peoria; three sisters, Lyn (Mark) Suits of Yates City, Janet (Jeff) Nelson of Springfield, IL and Molly (Doug) Bishop of Peoria; five brothers, Thomas (Helen) Crusen of Rochester, IL, Daniel Crusen of Peoria, Steve (Terri) Crusen of Peoria, Dave (Trish) Crusen of East Peoria and Chris Crusen of East Peoria; and Don was extremely close with his fourteen nieces, fourteen nephews, five great nieces and nine great nephews and he treated them each as if they were his own children. He was preceded in death by his father and one nephew, Joshua Suits. He was co-owner with his brother, Steve and his wife, Terri of Crusen’s Restaurant & Bar. He attended and played football at Eureka College. He was a former Assistant Varsity Offensive Line Coach for football at Metamora High School. He was a member of TKE Fraternity, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree and Bar Owner’s Association. He enjoyed fishing, playing games and helping others. Don treated everyone he met as part of his family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. Mark’s Church with Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Journal Star Red Stocking Fund or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
