Obituary for Donald J. Buczynski, Jr.

BLOOMINGTON- Maj. (Ret.) Donald Joseph Buczynski, Jr., USMC, 51, of Bloomington passed away at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1964, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Donald Joseph and Frances (Plut) Buczynski.
Donald was a graduate of Bergan High School and Illinois State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in political science. On Sept. 24, 1994, he married Julie Patterson in Costa Mesa, Calif. He worked as a district manager for Astra Zeneca.
Donald honorably served in the United States Marines, retiring as a major. While serving in the Marines, he was awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and the Air Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Julie of Bloomington; his parents, Donald and Frances Buczynski of Peoria; two children, Nickolas and Sydney Buczynski; three brothers, Gregory (Laura) Buczynski of Peoria, Michael Buczynski of Nashville, Tenn., and Matthew (Erin) Buczynski of Mapleton; three sisters, Beth (Michael) Sowers of Springfield, Mo., Amy Punke of Eureka, and Marisol (Chad) Buchanan of Indianapolis, Ind.
Visitation will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3720 N Sterling Ave, in Peoria. Franciscan Friars will officiate and burial along with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
