Obituary for Donald E. Adams

BRIMFIELD – Donald E. Adams, 97, of Brimfield passed away at 8:35 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at UnityPoint Health – Methodist. Donald was born on May 9, 1918, in Peoria to the late Herbert E. and Jessie (Smith) Adams. He married Mary Ann Brus on Aug. 28, 1941, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 2012. He was also preceded in death by one son, James; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by four daughters, Judy (Chuck) Volk of Peoria, Nancy (Daniel) Pulon of Santa Rosa, Calif., Janet Roling of Brimfield, and Sally (Mike) Hanley of Kickapoo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Donald was a World War II Navy veteran. He later worked as Logan Printing Company’s liaison to Caterpillar. He was a life-long bowler, bowling for at least 60 years. He is in the Peoria Bowling Hall of Fame and was the oldest living Hall of Fame president at the most recent banquet. He was also a past president of the Peoria Bowling association and ran the junior bowling program in the Peoria area for 25 years. Donald was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Kickapoo and the Patriots Circle, a VFW organization and was a life-long Cubs fan. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Father Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Mary Parish Hall. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Brimfield Ambulance & Rescue or St. Mary’s School in Kickapoo.
