Obituary for Dolores "Dode" E. Morrissey
PEORIA – Dolores E. “Dode” Morrissey, 91, of Peoria passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at her home.
Dolores was born on Jan. 22, 1925, in Peoria to the late George and Victoria (Speck) Seiler. She married Bernard C. Morrissey on Nov. 29, 1947, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by one brother.
She is survived by seven children, Mary Netherland of Huron, Ohio, Jerry “Moe” Morrissey of Peoria, Vickie (Rick) Jaquess of Washington, Patti (Doug) Landes of Myrtle Point, Ore., Terry Morrissey of Peoria, Jean (Steve) Blackford of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Bernie (Audrey) Morrissey of Justin, Tex.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Dolores was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Jude Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and the 55 and Over Club. She helped will mercy dinners for funerals and volunteered with Catholic Social Services.
She was an avid bingo player.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Father John Mujnui will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
