Obituary for Delores M. Smith

PEORIA HEIGHTS Delores M. Smith, 82, of Peoria Heights died at 6:12 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence.
Delores was born on January 30, 1932, in Peoria to Joseph and Antonia (Capranica) Agatucci. She married Thomas J. Smith on April 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Coffey and Lena Aitken.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (Norm) Stark of Priest River, Idaho, Roxy (Kirk) Rees of Peoria, and Joan (Joe) Stickelmaier of Groveland; three sons, Timothy (Patricia) Smith and Tom (Suzanne) Smith both of Peoria, and Rob (Lisa) Smith of Dunlap; 14 grandchildren, Jerry Motteler, Amy (Branson) Moreno, Calli Smith, Nick Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Evan Smith, Derek Smith, Hank (Erin) Stickelmaier, Luke Stickelmaier, Sam Smith, Ethan Smith, Jake (Jen) Stark, Emmy (Chuck) Bahr, and Joey (Melissa) Stark; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Delores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She loved camping with her husband and kids, especially the Easter vacations at Gulf Shores. She also enjoyed a good game of cards, bingo, and dice with everyone, gambling on the boat, and dancing at the Elks Club. She and her husband, Tom, also enjoyed taking their grandchildren on vacations around the country. They enjoyed their winter vacations on Padre Island with their retired friends.
Delores was a great support to her husband with his plumbing business.
Delores was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Thomas Womens Guild and Choir, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, the Italian American Society, the Detweiller Ladies Golf League, and the Womens Auxiliary of IPHCC. She also volunteered at the OSF St. Francis Gift Shop.
Delores family would especially like to thank her caretakers, Amy, Benita, Kris, and Amber. They would also like to thank OSF Hospice and all the family and friends for their support.
A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at St Thomas Catholic Church. Msgr. William Watson will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, also at the church. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church or OSF Hospice.
