Obituary for David Corey Reynolds

PEORIA-David Corey Reynolds, 60, of Peoria passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on January 7, 1948 in Peoria to Victor C. and Lucille A. Dooley Reynolds. He married Jane Koenig on April 14, 1973. David is survived by his three children, Amy Reynolds (fiancé Todd Luczaj), Jenny Reynolds and Daniel (Stacey) Reynolds; six grandchildren, Jessica, Vincent, Jake, Riley, Alyssa and Lauren; his sisters, Molly (Pat) Farrell, Terry (E. Michael) O’Brien; his brothers, Dennis Reynolds and Kevin (Beth) Reynolds and his sister, Sally (Tim) Kenny. David is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews and his longtime companion, Linda Flores Waldron. David graduated from Richwoods High School in 1966 and attended Southwest Missouri College and Illinois State University. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. David had a distinguished law enforcement career with the Peoria Police Department, where in 1975, he received the Policeman of the Year award and also received the Medal of Valor. He retired from the Peoria Police Department in 1983. He worked as an Assistant Coroner for the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, then owned and operated Chantilly Lace. David was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish and some of his favorite memories were the summers he spent on the family island in Canada. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2008 at Holy Family Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Additional visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
