Obituaries
Peoria- Daniel P. Uranich, age 82, passed away 12:35 AM, Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Buehler Christian Home in Peoria, IL.
Daniel was born on December 29, 1934 in LaSalle, IL a son of Anton and Rose Kozar Uranich. He spent his youth in an orphanage with his three brothers. He married Mary Ellen Carroll on April 27, 1968. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2015.
Dan graduated from Spalding Institute, where he was a stand-out football player and was named to the Illinois State All-State Squad in 1952. He attended Lewis College and St. Ambrose University. He also proudly served in the United States Army. Dan served the City of Peoria as a police officer from 1964-1985, retiring as a sergeant. He then worked for 10 years as a U.S. Federal Marshall at the United Sates Federal Courthouse in Peoria.
Dan was an avid golfer and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. He was a member of the Spalding Council Knights of Columbus #427.
Survivors include one brother, Jim and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Dan was preceded in death by two brothers; Tony and Ed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Buehler Christian Home for their care and compassion.
Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with a one hour prior visitation. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials in Dan’s name, may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
