Obituary for Corinne Ward Lunn

PEORIA-Corinne Ward Lunn, 97, of Peoria, died peacefully at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at her home. She was born on January 19, 1911 in Kidder County, North Dakota to Joseph Calvin and Iva Pearl Stroup Ward. She first married Dr. Ralph J. Karrasch in 1936 in Chicago. He passed away in 1941 in Chicago. She later married H. Ross Lunn in 1946 in Houston, TX. He passed away in 1950 in Houston. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Ward and Russell Ward and two sisters, Blanche Gehle and Helen Sloan. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and her companion cat, Mickey. She attended Cissna Park High School and graduated from Buckley High School in 1929. She received her RN diploma from Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago in 1933. She was a graduate of the University of Houston and earned her Masters in School of Public Health from the University of North Carolina in 1957. She served as First Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps. during World War II in the European Theatre from 1943-1945. Corinne worked as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Legion, TX and then in Houston, TX. She worked at the Peoria City/County Health Department from 1957 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Illinois League of Municipal Employees and St. Bernard Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Ford-Baier Mortuary in Buckley, IL. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the services. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Buckley. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The Peoria Animal Welfare Shelter.
