Obituary for Colleen S. Cole
Colleen Sue Cole, age 71, of East Peoria, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at UnityPoint Methodist in Peoria, IL.
Colleen was born on June 8, 1951 in Peoria, a daughter of Wilton “Bingo” and Eileen (Cannon) Crotz. She married Richard Cole on August 29, 1986 in Washington, IL. Richard preceded her in death on February 18, 2005 in Peoria.
Colleen is survived by her children, Adam (Jennifer) Cole of Washington, IL and Alex (Alyssa) Cole of East Peoria. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Delaney, Madison, Brinley and Wyatt, who fondly referred to her as “Grandma Babes.” As well as siblings Pamela (Joe) Romolo, Tom (Patty) Crotz and Dan Crotz.
Colleen attended Academy of Our Lady High School, Illinois State University as an Undergraduate and received her Master’s Degree in Education from Bradley University. She taught Special Education at East Peoria High School and was a guidance Counselor there for many years. She also worked for Romolo and Associates with her brother-in-law, Joe. Colleen served on the East Peoria Fondulac Library for 25 years.
A private family burial will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at St. Mary Cemetry in West Peoria.
A Celebration of Life will be on February 19, 2023, from 1-4 PM at Countryside Banquet Hall, 659 School St, Washington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fondulac District Library, 400 Richland St, East Peoria, IL 61611
