Obituary for Colleen M. Sullivan

Colleen Mary (Kelleher) Sullivan a resident of Peoria, died at 7:40 PM on Saturday (12-10-2011) at Lutheran Hillside Village. Colleen was born June 13, 1924, in Volga, Iowa and raised in Elkader, Iowa to Harry & Mary (Connor) Kelleher. She married Harold T. (Tom) Sullivan, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, J. M. (Sully) Sullivan, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Surviving are 9 children, Margaret (Chuck) Walter of The Villages, Florida; Mary (Dan) Arnold of Peoria; Pat (Lark) Sullivan of Peoria; Susie Blasek of Peoria; Tracy (John) Meisinger of Peoria; Becky (John) Blasek of Peoria; Colleen (Dave) DeFord of Chillicothe; Dodie (Steve) Gomer of Peoria; Maureen (Brice) Baumgarten of Peoria; daughter in-law Molly Mihm Sullivan of Peoria; 22 grandchildren: Becky (Jim) Myszka, Tim (Jodi) Walter, Todd (Jenny) Walter, Jim Arnold (Melissa Kneip), Jason Arnold, Joe Arnold (Kim Elder), Stephanie (Mike) Crabtree, Sean (Maureen) Sullivan, Molly (Ciaron) Graham, Billy (Lauren) Blasek, Michael (Jen) Blasek, Janelle (Shawn) Glatz, Kelli (Mike) Barr, MaryBeth (Brad) Cunningham, Angie (Chris) Jungwirth, Kari (Lou) Trilikis, Kevin (Sarah) Blasek, Erin DeFord (Tom Nagawiecki), Melissa DeFord, Kevin (Emma) Gomer, Connor Gomer & Brendan Baumgarten, & 28 great grandchildren and five on the way. Colleen’s brother Harry (Joyce) Kelleher of San Diego, CA & sister Petrene (Fred) Poss of Temecula, CA and many nieces & nephews. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Peoria. Member of St. Patrick Society, Being the Mother of the year in 1998, and many other charitable organizations. She worked at the Peoria County Courthouse for 33 years, retiring as Jury Commissioner in 1999 at the age of 75. A funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Thursday, December 15, at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church with recitation of the rosary at 3:15 PM. Further visitation will be 30 minutes before mass on Thursday. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery on Friday at 12:15 PM in Elkader Iowa. Arrangements are by Wright & Salmon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hillside Village.
