Obituary for Cody Gilles

Peoria- Jason Cody Richard Gilles, 26, of Peoria, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in Peoria.
Born December 12, 1989 in Peoria, he was a son to Richard Gilles and Sharon Harkless. Cody honorably served in the United States Navy and was a plane captain of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 6 Indians insignia during his 7-month tour in the Persian Gulf on the USS Nimitz. He worked as an elevator apprentice for Murphy Elevator Company, and was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 55. Cody loved fishing and hunting, as well as, spending time with his nephews and niece.
He is survived by his parents, Richard (Carol) Gilles of Brimfield and Sharon (Ron) Harkless of Glasford; one sister Ashley (Matt) Arbogast of Mahomet; one brother Cole Harkless of Normal; two step-brothers, Jared (Rachel) Volk and their children of Georgetown, KY and Casey (Caitlin) Volk and their son of Brimfield; one step-sister Jennifer Volk of Peoria; grandparents Jim (Claudia) Humphrey of Enterprise, Ala.; step-grandparents Tom (Penny) Meyer of Kickapoo; great-grandmother Gaynell Taylor of Enterprise, Ala.; two nephews Colton and Kale Arbogast and one niece Addelyn Arbogast; as well as, several aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him very much.
Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard A. (Frances V.) Gilles.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 08, 2016 from 9:30 AM until time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Father Joseph Dondanville and Pastor Andrew Powell will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo.
