Obituary for Clarence Thomason

Peoria-Clarence J. Thomason, 91, of Peoria died at Proctor Hospital at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012. Clarence was born August 28, 1920, in Aden, IL, to Willard J. and Julie Isaacs Thomason. He married Alma L. Jones in Sept. of 1941 in Paxton, IL and she passed away in Oct. of 1987 in Coon Rapids, MN. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Carolyn) Thomason of Princeville and Rod Thomason of St. Paul, MN. And four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Lunde and Pauline Lunde both of Gibson City, IL and Ruby Quin of Scotsdale, AZ., and one brother, Clyde (Delores) Thomason of Santa Maria, CA. Clarence was a diesel leader for the P and PU Railroad and later was owner and operator of the Imperial 400 Motel in New Jersey and Minnesota. Clarence was a World War Two Army Veteran serving from 1942 until 1945 as a tractor mechanic. He also attended El Vista Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary with Pastor Joey Watt officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com.
