Obituary for Clara M. Roedl

Clara M. (Wichmann) Roedl 101, passed from this life peacefully on November 23, 2014. Clara was born on July 27, 1913, in Peoria, IL. She was the second child of John P. Wichmann and Clara E. (Kirchgessner) Wichmann. She attended St. Mary’s School in Kickapoo, IL. She worked at the rectory for St Cecilia’s Church in Peoria, IL, and for Armour Meat Packing Company in Peoria. Clara wed Fred N. Roedl on November 28, 1946, and was married for thirty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers (Joseph and Raymond), and her beloved husband. She was a member of St. Cecilia and St. Philomena Catholic Churches in Peoria, IL prior to moving to Bloomington, IN, in 1998. While living in Bloomington, IN, Clara was a member of St. Paul Catholic Center. Clara later moved to Nashville, IN, and attended St. Agnes Catholic Church. Survivors include her sons, Frank E. Roedl (Sherry) of Marietta, GA, and Fred W. Roedl (Mary Beth) of Bloomington, IN; grandsons Brian Roedl, Nick Roedl (Zoe) all of Bloomington, IN, and David Roedl (Saumya Verma) of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughters Megan Roedl of Atlanta, GA, and Anne Simpson (John) of Atlanta, GA. Clara was devoted to God, her family, and her friends. She was a role model to her family for how they should live their lives. Her family is proud of the example she set. Clara will be greatly missed by all who loved her. A celebration of Clara’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 1, 2014, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. Rev. David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
