Obituary for Christopher F. Cassidy
Chillicothe- Christopher F. Cassidy, age 65, of Chillicothe, passed away 2:22 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Born December 25, 1956 in Peoria, a son to John Jr. “Jack” and Helen (Fagan) Cassidy. On January 22, 1983 he married Nancie Rosenquist in Cambridge, IL and together they cherished 39 years. He was a graduate of Bergan HS Class of 1976, attended Regis College’ Denver, and attend ISU graduating with honors. He furthered his education at SIU School of Law. Chris worked as an Attorney at Cassidy & Mueller, as well as General Manager for Three Sisters Park where he was responsible for making it awesome! He was a member of the Illinois State and Peoria County Bar Associations.
Chris loved biking, having 5 times ridden across Iowa from the Missouri to the Mississippi rivers as part of RAGBRAI having achieved EFM status. He also did the Pedal Across Wisconsin ride in Door County. He was a Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay season ticket holder, avid Cubs fan and enjoyed “bowling” with friends. He loved traveling, going to the theatre (thank you Helen), and attending Bears games with Nancie. Chris was known to have a take charge attitude having organized his buddies annual fishing trips for the past 20 years and being in charge of the March Madness Tournament Pool. Occasionally, Chris enjoyed attending sporting events and concerts with Nancie and friends.
Most importantly, he was a devout and faithful Catholic who attended St. Edwards Church and cherished his family above all else.
Survivors include his wife, Nancie of Chillicothe and their beloved Australian Shepherd, Rosie; Mother, Helen Cassidy of Peoria; eight siblings: Katie (Brian) O’Malley of Shorewood, Wisc., John (Teresa) Cassidy of Peoria, Tim (Angie) Cassidy of Peoria, Casey (Greg) Bobbitt of Bloomington, Mary (Brian) Burns of Springfield, Drew (Ellen) Cassidy of Peoria, Colleen Waller of Peoria and Jim Cassidy of Peoria; 28 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by his dad Jack, one nephew Michael, in-laws Jim and Phyllis Rosenquist and brother in law, Karl Rosenquist.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with an additional visitation being held one hour prior to mass. Msgr. Gerald Ward will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
