Obituary for Charles Nemeth

PEORIA Charles S. Nemeth, 67, of Peoria passed away 4:45 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Heddington Oaks, after bravely living with early-onset Alzheimers for nearly a decade.
Charlie was born February 9, 1947, in Philadelphia, Penn, to Alexander and Rose (Levacinski) Nemeth. He married Mary Reinhart in 1974, and they had three children together.
He is survived by one brother, Alex (Pat) Nemeth of Madison, Ind.; one son, Joseph (Candice) Nemeth of Plainfield, Ill.; two daughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Nemeth-Puhr of Denver, and Jessica Nemeth of Peoria; and one grandchild, Elodie Nemeth.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Connie; and both parents.
Charlie served in the Air Force during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1969. He later worked as a systems analyst for RLI in Peoria, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria.
Charlie was an adored father. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his devotion to and love for his family, his commitment to living simply and to choosing to always look on the bright side. His positive attitude was captured by his signature phrase throughout the many stages of Alzheimers, Every day is a good day!
His family would like to thank the staff at Bickford Cottage and Heddington Oaks for the wonderful love and care they provided to Charlie. They would also like to give a special thank you to his Methodist Hospice nurse, Mae.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Wright Salmon Mortuary, with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Private burial of ashes with full military rites will be at a later date. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Central Illinois Chapter, 606 W. Glen Ave., Peoria, IL 61614.
