Obituary for Charles "Chuck" W. O'Brien
Peoria- Charles “Chuck” W. O’Brien 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30. 2017.
Chuck was born May 21, 1926 to Charles L. and Edna (Gogele) O’Brien, in Peoria, IL.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Pat O’Brien of 67 years, and children; Mary (Bill) Stubstud, Susie (CJ) Jimenez, Dick (Jane) O’Brien, Mike (Laurie) O’Brien; daughter-in-law Kate O’Brien, Steve (Katie) O’Brien, Jim (Tina) O’Brien, Matt (Jill) O’Brien, 27 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Tim O’Brien, brother, Fr. Rich O’Brien, sisters; Eileen Lintz, Dorothy Lavin, and great grandson Colin Stubstud.
Chuck left his Junior year of High School to serve his country in the Navy during WWII. Two days after returning from the war Chuck started his plumbing career at CL O’Brien that his father Charles Leo O’Brien started. When he retired in 1990 he enjoyed golfing and was proud of his three hole in one accomplishments as well as woodworking. He and Pat also enjoyed driving to Arizona every winter. Chuck was also a proud member of the 3rd Degree Spalding Council #427. He served on many boards as well for the Plumbing Trades.
Chuck will always be remembered for his firm handshake, devotion to his faith, and love for his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:30-8:00 PM, Thursday November 2, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Philomena Catholic Church at 10 Am Friday, November 3, 2017 with an additional visitation one hour prior to Mass. Father David Richardson will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Fr. David Richardson, Dr. David Rodenburg, Chuck’s doctor, and to the staff of Buehler Home as well as Dr. Tom Kouri who cared for him while he was in the nursing center.
Memorials in Chuck’s memory may be made to St. Philomena Catholic Church or Women’s Pregnancy Center.
