Obituary for Charlene Marie "Skip" Cravens
Charlene Marie “Skip” Becker Cravens, 91, of West Peoria, passed away at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at her residence.
Skip was born February 2, 1931 in Peoria to Charles J. and Mary M. (Smithies) Becker. On April 26, 1952 she married Harry Cravens at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2012. They are survived by five children; Paul (Deb) of Oakley, CA, Ellen of Peoria, Mark (Pam) of Bartonville, John of Peoria, and Chris of Longmont, CO; and foster child Jim Geisler of Idaho; grandchildren Becky, Kristin, Carey, Tom, Kira, Tanner, Sarah, Ariana, and Ashley; and six great grandchildren, Austin, Branden, Elijiah, Khloe, Graysen and Addison, as well as five great-great grandchildren.
Skip attended the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria for three years, then attended her last year of high school in Fort Wayne, IN, graduating in 1948.
Skip and Harry were longtime members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Skip was a member of the Moss Bradley Residential Organization for many years. She loved the historical neighborhoods of Peoria, spending time in her flower gardens and her AOL and Spalding Institute friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church with an additional visitation one hour prior to mass. Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
