Obituary for Carol Adams
Carol Adams, age 81, of Peoria, formerly of Washington, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Carol was born on July 4, 1941, in Peoria, a daughter of Gilbert “Pete” and Julia (Wynd) Peterson, both preceded her in death.
Carol is survived by her children, Heather Hopkins of Dunlap and Nathan (Olga) Adams of Palatine, IL, grandchildren, Noah, twins, Sydney and Sienna Hopkins, Sophia and Oliver Adams, sister, Diane (Steve) Reiss, nephews, Adam (Heather) and Grant (Hany) Reiss, grandnephews and nieces, Will, Ava, Kayla, and Blake Reiss, as well as Lee Hager, her beloved longtime companion.
Carol graduated from Western Illinois University and was affiliated with the DZ Sorority. She went on to earn her Master’s degree from Illinois State University. Carol taught at White Middle School for 34 years. Upon retirement she was a tutor at Lincoln Middle School. She was honored by both the Woodruff Student Council and the Kiwanee’s Club of Peoria with the Outstanding Teacher Award. Carol was a dedicated volunteer of Friends for 47, WTVP and was a brownie troop leader.
She was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church including the Naomi Circle. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends and supporting and loving her grandchildren.
Per Carol’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Salem Lutheran Church. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Craig Swenson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Carol’s name.
