Obituary for Brande Erin Akers

ROME-Brande “Boo” Erin Akers, 30, of Rome, IL, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in her sleep at her residence. Born on June 13, 1979 in Peoria, IL, she has been a blessing for 30 years. She left behind both loving parents Robert “Bob” and Mary C. Lovan Akers. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Aunt Fran Pierce, Uncle Frank (Ellen) Akers, Aunt Carole Stephens, Uncle Bill (Carol) Akers, Aunt Peg (Ron) Callahan, Uncle Ed (Lynn) Akers, Uncle Tom (Lynn) Akers, Aunt Marti (Larry) Coates, Uncle Bill (Jennifer) Lovan, Uncle Bob (Elizabeth) Lovan, Aunt Deb (James) Jackson, Aunt Brenda (Matt) Jackson, and too numerous cousins to mention by name, but will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by both grandparents, Frank and Evelyn Akers and Boyce and Libbie Lovan, Sr. and one uncle, Mike Lovan. She attended Peoria Developmental Center for 18 years. She befriended everyone she met by a great big grin and if you tossed her hair, you were greeted with a giggle. Though she suffered through many obstacles of life, she always came through stronger and more appreciative of those around her. Brande loved music, especially music on the riverfront, Janis Joplin, Bagpipes and Celtic Women. She was as adventurous as her physical capabilities would allow her or as far as dad would take her. Bob and Mary would like to thank her pharmacist, her doctor, her auto mechanic, her teachers in school and all who helped her get to the age of thirty. We know they all went the extra mile because Brande was special to them. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe with Rev. Glenn H. Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Rome, IL. In lieu of memorials, Brande’s wishes would be to hug your neighbor, hug your friend, and hug anyone who has helped you through difficult times. Hug your loved ones tight and if you desire, send one up to her. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
