Obituary for Bonnie Lou Martin

PEORIA HEIGHTS – Bonnie Lou Martin, 71, of Peoria Heights was granted her angel wings on August 30, 2012 with her family by her side at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born March 13, 1941 in Vienna, IL to John and Lella Bundy. She married her beloved husband and lifelong soul mate, Terry L. Martin, on June 19, 1982. He survives.

Also surviving are her two sons Eric (Sherry Sullivan) Gardner and Troy Gardner both of Mapleton; one daughter Terri Sue (Steve) Durdel of Peoria; eight grandchildren Stanley “Pee Wee” (Rachael Carson) Gardner III, Kayla Martin, Timothy Knoblauch, Zachary Haar, Kristina Gardner, Drew Haar, Aaron Gardner, and Caiden Martin; three great-grandchildren Hailey Gardner, Brayden Martin, and Lilly Gardner; one brother Herschel (Judy) Bundy; one sister Janet Bundy; one sister-in-law Dorothy Bundy of East Peoria; one daughter-in-law Sandy Partin of Crittenden, KY; one brother-in-law Will (Sue) Martin of Washington; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her cherished (shih tzu) companion “Gizmo.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Stanley Gardner Jr.; and one brother John Bundy Jr.

Bonnie devoted much of her time and energy to her family and church. Her interests included Christian religion, sewing, cooking, singing, league bowling, fishing and gospel music. She was an active member at Laramie Street Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Laramie Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary with an additional visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Laramie Street Baptist Church.
