Obituary for Betty Marie Holtzman

WASHINGTON-Betty Marie Holtzman, 88, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Washington, IL passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2006. Betty was born in Rockford, IL October 6, 1918 to Arthur and Mary Sausman Annis. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1940 and married John A Holtzman the same year, on August 24th. He passed away on May 26, 1996 in Washington, IL. She is survived by her two sons William A. Holtzman and wife Dianne, from Trout Creek, MT; and James A Holtzman and wife Elizabeth, from Redmond, WA; two grandchildren, Christopher John and Anna Marie Holtzman, children of Jim & Liz Holtzman. Betty was active in Cursillo and Prison Ministry since 1973 in the Peoria area. She was also a deacon and an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL. After moving permanently to Green Valley, AZ in 1996, she became a Stephen minister at Valley Presbyterian Church. She was a member and former regent of the Peoria Chapter NSDAR and a member of the Madera Canyon DAR chapter in Green Valley, AZ. A memorial service was held October 12, 2006 at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Rev. Henry Hein officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Carondelet Hospice and Palliative Care, 630 N. Alvernon, Ste. 361, Tucson, AZ 85711; Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino del Sol, Green Valley, AZ 85614; and Stephen Ministry which is associated with the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, Az.
