Obituary for Betty Little
Betty B. Little (nee Larke), 85 of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Peoria Heights, IL passed away November 9, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village.
Betty was born October 23, 1932 in Peoria to Fred and Margaret (Henseler) Larke. Betty attended Von Steuben Grade School and Woodruff High School. She married Raymond Little on July 7, 1951 and they were inseparable until Rays death just a month ago, they danced loved and laughed for 66 beautiful years; together Betty and Ray had five children, Amy (John) Kelly, Jody (Keith) Kamin, Timothy (Kay) Little, Beth (Andy) Casten, and Suzette Rae Kennedy (Who preceded her in death), also preceding her in death were her parents, granddaughter Tessa Casten, her brothers Fred, Ted and Bill Larke.
For 34 years Betty and Ray devotedly cared for Suzettes daughter, Janice Kennedy. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as 8 step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed the support and lifelong friendship of her extended family; including her brother’s wives, Doris, Oma and Jean Larke and Ray’s siblings and spouses; Betty (Dave) Svymbersky, Hobart (Jean) Little, Paula (Rick) Gall and Paul (Nancy) Little. Friday afternoons would not be complete without a “Betty Club” lunch outing and a little wine to top off the afternoon.
Betty held many jobs in her life but none were as important as her job as wife and mother. Of Betty’s many interests were sewing and baking; she will be fondly remembered for hosing enjoyable get togethers where you could always count on a delicious meal with home baked treats. She enjoyed relaxing on her patio watching over her garden and birds who never wanted for food.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 13, 2017 with a half hour prior visitation at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate and burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance or the charity of your choice.
