Obituary for Betty E. Stimeling

Betty E. Stimeling, 97, of Creve Coeur passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:05 p.m. in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 3rd 1923 in Chicago IL to Cleo and Rose (Mc Grew) Roedell. She married John R. Stimeling, Jan. 8th 1955 in Peoria IL. He died March 1977.
Betty is survived by stepson Dwight (Patty) Stimeling, two grandsons Joshua (Amanda) Stimeling and Robert Stimeling and great grandchildren Cheyenne, Nevaeh, Lucille, Brenton, Tia, and Kayla. Also surviving are nieces Gerry (Steve) Smick, Roxy (Jerrod) Wolland and one nephew Dana (Laura) Roedell as well as many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son Derek Stimeling. She was also preceded in death by one stepson Dave Stimeling, two brothers Robert Roedell and Jerry (Patricia) Roedell and great granddaughter Shana Stimeling.
As a young adult Betty enjoyed flying planes. After she married John they spent time traveling the world. They went to Paris and Rome. They lived in Scotland for a few years where Betty joined a sorority while John helped open the first Caterpillar plant in Glasgow.
Betty was a proud Member at Large of Chapter Laureate Alpha Beta of Beta Sigma Phi International Woman’s Association. She had been a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and was a member of Civil Defense of Ground Observer Corps during WWII. She was later a lunch lady at Woodrow Wilson School and a member of Glen Oak Church.
Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be missed greatly by her family.
A private crypt side service and interment will be held for the family at the American Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude.
