Obituary for Bernice M. Chambers
PEORIA-Bernice M. Chambers, 86, of Peoria, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at OSF Saint Clare Home in Peoria Heights. She was born on July 29, 1924, in Peoria, to Jacob and Gertrude Papadeau Johnson. She first married Daniel Gorman in 1945 in Peoria. He passed away November 29, 1986 in Peoria. She later married Fred Chambers on April 11, 1992 in Peoria. She is also survived by her husband, Fred Chambers of Peoria; one daughter, Sue (Bud) Borman of Peoria; two grandchildren, Christopher Borman and Katherine Hofmann; and two great-grandchildren, Annie Hofmann and Rylee Borman. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Gorman, two brothers and six sisters. Bernice was the former owner and operator of Gorman’s Market in Peoria. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church with Franciscan Fathers officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church.
