Obituary for Bernice A. Dwyer

PEORIA-Bernice A. Dwyer, 91, of Peoria, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. She was born on June 6, 1919, in Kickapoo to William and Mary Gilles Stenger. She married Dennis P. Dwyer on January 25, 1936, in Kickapoo. He passed away on September 29, 1972, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one son, John Dwyer and his wife, Pat; one grandson; two brothers; and two sisters. Bernice is survived by three daughters, Patricia Dwyer of Peoria, Mary (Mike) Hermann of Glasford and Linda (Roger) Kilpatrick of Morton; two sons, Bernard (Pat) Dwyer and Ronald (Margaret) Dwyer both of Kickapoo; thirteen grandchildren, Dennis Dwyer of Peoria, Peggy (John) Reilly of Normal, Mark (Jenny) Dwyer of Normal, Maureen Hermann of Brimfield, Michael Hermann of Glasford, Colleen (Michael) Theisen of Edwards, Kate (Tom) Belshaw of Dunlap, Timothy (Mary) Dwyer of Geneva, IL, Martin (Rose) Dwyer of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kathy (Matt) Abraham of Normal, Ron (Stefanie) Dwyer of Kickapoo, Ginny (Doug) Hanley of Edwards and Richard Dwyer of Brimfield; and twenty eight great-grandchildren. She worked at Hiram Walker & Sons in the Bottling Department for twenty-five years, retiring in 1980. Bernice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo and a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Heavenly Quilters and loved to be in her garden. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo with Rev. Joe Dondanville officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Passages Hospice, 315 N.
