Obituary for Bernardine C. Pisano

PEORIA-Bernardine C. “Bernie” Pisano, 75, of Peoria, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born on November 8, 1934, in Peoria to George P. and Mary K. Conn Marme. She married Salvatore “Sal” Pisano, retired Chief of Police, Peoria Police Department on September 3, 1955, in Peoria. He survives. Bernie is also survived by two sons, Anthony “Tony” (Ginny) Pisano of Germantown Hills and Dominic Pisano of Peoria, two daughters, Sallie (Todd) Aldrich of Olympia, WA and Annette Pisano of Peoria; three grandsons, Michael , Mario and Nicholas Pisano all of Peoria; one granddaughter, Nicole Pisano of St. Louis, MO; and four sisters, Eleanor “Lollie” Marme of Jupiter, FL, Maggie (Bob) Eynatten of Chandler, AZ, Rheta (Jim) O’Laughlin of Bloomington, MN and Pat (Jim) McGrath of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, G. William Marme, MD and M. Raymond Marme, DDS, and one sister, Terry Coker. She was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady and attended Bradley University. Bernie was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Bernard’s Women’s Club and a volunteer for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. “Nana” spent endless hours supporting her grandchildren at all of their extracurricular activities. She never missed a swim meet, ball game, scholastic bowl, or dance recital regardless of the time of day or the weather. And although she had limited knowledge of the rules of the games, she somehow found a way to argue calls in favor of her grandchildren. She will be missed by all, but mostly by them. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010, at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father Dustin Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the church and one hour before the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Church or American Cancer Society.
