Obituary for Barbara Olejniczak
Barbara Olejniczak, 84, of Peoria, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 8:19 AM at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home.
Born January 22, 1938 in Chicago to William and Marion Harper, she married Mel Olejniczak on September 2, 1961. He died on July 5, 2003 in Peoria.
Barbara is survived by her son, David of Chicago; daughter, Laura (Brian) Hunt of Kalispell,MT; one brother, William (Sheila) Harper of Plymouth; one nephew Christopher Harper; two nieces, Shannon Lee and Jennifer Harper, all of Plymouth, MI; and her wonderful companion of ten years, Dick Gardner.
She moved to Peoria in 1969, and loved everything it had to offer.
Barb was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Wedgewood Swim Club, The Red Hat Society, O.W.L.S., and loved her OLLI courses at Bradley University.
The family would like to thank Christian Buehler Home, Illinois Cancer Care and OSF Hospice for their loving hearts and care provided.
A Funeral mass will be on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 10:30 AM at her church, with Fr. Stephen Willard officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, from 2 to 4 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, and 1 hour prior to the mass on Monday at the church.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent DePaul Church or Illinois Cancer Care.
