Obituary for Austin James Gentry
PEORIA – Austin James Gentry, 19, of Peoria passed away April 12, 2016, in North Las Vegas, Nev.
Austin was born on March 22, 1997, in Naperville, Ill., to Jason and Erika (Broeren) Gentry.
He is survived by his parents, Jason Gentry of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Erika (Thomas) Mitchell of Peoria; three sisters, Anna and Rose Gentry and Erin Mitchell all of Peoria; grandparents, Linda DiOdoardo of Peoria and Henry (Norrie) Broeren of East Peoria; step-grandmother, Barbara (John) Gilkeson of Peoria; uncle, Hank Broeren of Peoria; and one aunt, Wendy (Chris) Buis of Germantown Hills.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Sergio DiOdoardo.
Austin attended Holy Family Parish School and graduated from Peoria Regional Learning Center in 2015. He worked as the lead security officer for a contract security company in Las Vegas.
He was very generous and loving. He loved to help others and was loved by everyone who was blessed enough to know him. He brought joy and often used his keen sense of humor to make those around him laugh.
Austin volunteered for three summers at Proctor Hospital. He loved hanging out with friends and playing video games.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 am. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the Mass. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
