Obituary for August Frasco
Peoria- August Frasco, Jr., age 93, passed away at 11:05 AM, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at UnityPoint Proctor Hospital.
Born August 6, 1923 in Peoria, a son of August and Assunta (Ciccone) Frasco, Sr. He married Kathryn Eckerman on May 30, 1946. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1994. Also preceding was two sisters; Lena Girardini and Virginia Monge.
August is survived by one daughter, Susan Frasco of Peoria, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He served his country, in WWII, in the 106th AAA, Anti-Aircraft Battalion. He was stationed in Africa, Italy, and France from 1943 - 1945. He received the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster.
August was a co-owner of Frasco Bros. Market for 47 years, and then worked for Central Distributing and Pekin Distributing, for a total of 17 years, until he retired in 1981.
August was an active participant in the Peoria community and attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 627, a lifetime member of the Peoria Casting Club, and the Italian American Society. He was a former member of the Elks, the Moose and the St. Jude 55 Club.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 – 11:00 AM Monday, March 27, 2017, also at the church. Burial will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
