Obituary for Arlene A. O'Connor

Peoria-Arlene A. O’Connor, 72 of Peoria, died at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Proctor Hospital. Arlene was born on December 26, 1934 in Peoria, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred Dooley Armitage. She married Edward T. O’Connor II on July 16, 1955 in Peoria. He survives. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Also surviving are one son, Edward T. “Tripp” (Patti) O’Connor III of Peoria; three daughters, Catherine “Kate” (Greg) Rodriguez, Margaret (Jim) Whitmer and Colleen (Greg) Davis all of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, and Daniel O’Connor of Peoria, Jay, Luke, Alec and Emily Rodriguez, Connor and Hannah Whitmer, and Delaney and McKennah Davis all of Bloomington; her mother, Mildred Armitage of Peoria; two sisters, Susie Sachs of Laguna Nigel, California and Ann (Bob) Cramer of Kickapoo; and one brother, David (Mary Anne) Armitage of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Armitage and one brother, Brian Armitage. Arlene graduated from The Academy of Our Lady in 1952, the all-women catholic high school. She worked for Dooley Brothers Mining and Blasting for twenty years. She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and member of the church’s Altar & Rosary Society. Arlene was considered to be a truly good person by all who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church with Franciscan Fathers officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
