Obituary for Ann Yakoff
Peoria- Ann Yakoff, 96, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 3:37 PM on January 22, 2017, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on April 2, 1920, in East Peoria, IL, to William and Anna Condit. She married Peter G. Yakoff on November 30, 1940, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2003. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Ann is survived by two daughters, Penny (Mickey) Madding and Paula (Rich) Anderson, both of Bartonville; two granddaughters, Tina (Joe) Grove of Mapleton and Sammie (Jake Siverly) Cotton of Peoria; two grandsons, Nicholas Cotton of Panama City, FL, and Andy Anderson of Bartonville; four great-grandchildren, Nate, Nell, Lily, and Knox. She is also survived by her dear sheltie, Foxy.
Ann and her husband Pete were proud owners of Yakoff Drive In Liquors where Ann was the bookkeeper for nearly forty years. She was also employed at Caterpillar and numerous jobs throughout Arizona while Pete was enlisted in the Army Air Force during WWII. Ann was a proud member of the Bartonville Femmes Unir Club for almost fifty years. She also served as a Republican Election Judge for elections with her last being in 2004. She graduated from Manual High School in 1938. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria.
She loved her family dearly and always had time to sit and visit with them. She always had words of wisdom and excellent advice to lend. She had a warm smile. She always had food to welcome you, and you never left her house empty handed. Her door was always open to those she loved so much.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church. Father Don Roszkowski will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church preceding the funeral mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
