Obituary for Ann M. (Armitage) Cramer

Edwards- Ann M. Armitage Cramer, 74, of Edwards passed away at 10:55AM on Monday, August 21, 2017 at her home.

Ann was born January 11, 1943 in Peoria, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Dooley) Armitage. She married Robert A. Cramer on October 23, 1971 in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are daughter Marie (Scott) Albrecht of Prosper, TX, daughter Elizabeth (Matt) Steffe of Frisco, TX, son Patrick Cramer of Edwards, IL, and daughter Lynn (Scott) Hempel of Prosper, TX; 10 grandchildren: Madeline, Mackenzie, and Jack Albrecht of Prosper, TX; Andrew, Ava, and Dylan Steffe of Frisco, TX; Maximus and Reece Hempel of Prosper, TX and Nicholas and Nathan Hempel of Davenport, IA; one sister, Susie Sachs of Laguna Niguel, CA and one brother, David (Mary Anne) Armitage of Peoria, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Armitage; her mother, Mildred Armitage; one sister, Arlene O’Connor, and one brother, Brian Armitage.

Ann graduated from The Academy of Our Lady in 1961, the all women’s Catholic high school. After graduating, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1961. She was associated with them until May 1969. During that time, she taught in Englewood, CO at St. Louis School for three years. She left the convent in 1969 and returned to Peoria to teach in District 150 from 1969 until 1972.

She married Robert Cramer in October of 1971 and stayed home with their four children from 1972 until 1983 when she returned to teaching at St. Vincent de Paul School in Peoria, IL. She taught there until 2008, when she retired.

Ann was an active parish member of St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo, serving as a communion minister and lector.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Thursday, August 24 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Kickapoo with recitation of the rosary at 3:15PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30AM Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo with an additional visitation one hour prior to mass. Fr. Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet or St. Mary’s Parish in Kickapoo.
