Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Henderson

LACON-A Mass of Christian Burial for Ann Elizabeth (Cline) Henderson, age 76, of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Lacon, formerly of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark, Ohio, with Father Bob Penhallurick officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Henderson was born September 6, 1931, in Newark to the late Ora J. and Anna Leolla (Meier) Cline. She peacefully died in her sleep August 20, 2008, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by three children, Paul (Denise) Henderson, Jr., of Bartonville, Ruth Henderson of Newark, Ohio, Sharon (Mike) Warfel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and son-in-law Bob Reid of Newark, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Amber, Brianne, Mitch, Brandie, Todd, Fanessa, and Christi; a brother, Paul Cline of Newark, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Henderson, Sr. in May, 1973; by a daughter, Carol Reid; a brother, Harold Cline; a sister, Margaret Ferrell; and a long-time friend, Harry Armstrong. Ann raised her family, was a beautician and co-owned a salon. She later worked at Haynes Brothers Jewelry before working at Newark Air Force Station where she retired in 1996. Ann was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the United Ancient Order of Druids. Ann enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, was an avid bingo player and often hunted mushrooms with her brother, Paul. She moved to Illinois in 1997 and was a former resident of St. Joseph’s Home of Peoria. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Nursing Home, 401 Ninth Street, Lacon, Illinois 61540 Wright & Salmon Mortuary and The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta Funeral & Cremation Service are assisting the family with arrangements.
