Obituary for Allen Schofield

ALLEN SCHOFIELD SPRING BAY-William A. “Allen” Schofield, 93 of Spring Bay, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born on May 1, 1915 in Clay City, IL to William A. Sr. and Ida Mae Tipton Schofield. He married Margaret N. Bute on March 9, 1945 in El Paso, TX. They celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on March 9th. She survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Karen (Cliff) McCarty of Metamora; one son, Jerry (Lynne) Schofield of Champaign, IL; five grandchildren, Barbara, Suzanne, Rebecca, Krista and Eric; nine great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and two infant brothers. Allen was a Machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. for 29 years, retiring in 1978. He was a World War II Army veteran. He attended Spring Bay United Methodist Church and a member of Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115. He was a volunteer at Spring Bay Fire Department and an avid bowler and loved to travel. He also loved to garden and loved his family very much. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Rev. Linda McKinney and Rev. Joe Richard officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery with Military Rites accorded.
