Obituary for Allan J. Friede

PEORIA-Allan J. Friede, 62, of 3200 W. Capitol Drive in Peoria, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2006 at ManorCare Health Services in Peoria. Born on January 16, 1944 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Edwin and Catherine Burke Friede. He married Linda L. Daleske on January 20, 1968 in Des Moines, Iowa. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Ann) Friede of Walcott, Iowa, Matthew (Shawn) Friede of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Douglas (Darcy) Friede of Peoria, who followed in their father’s footsteps and are also engineers; six grandchildren, Ellen, Josh, Pamela, Molly, Joseph and Alex; one brother, Patrick (Lynda) Friede of Brimfield; one sister, Mary Kay (Allen) Arp of Yutan, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was raised on a farm in Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Mechanical Engineering in 1967. Allan was a senior engine design specialist in the Engineering Department at Caterpillar, Inc., where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of Society of Automotive Engineers. He also was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where a Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday with Father Jason Gray officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a scripture service at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
