Obituary for Alan L. Kilty
Peoria- Alan L. Kilty, age 71, of Peoria, passed away at 10:32 PM in Peoria on May 04, 2017.
He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on November 14, 1945 to Doyle and Betty (Seibold) Kilty. Alan Married Janet Hoppa on June 14, 1969 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she survives. Also Surviving are three sons, Scott (Andrea Kyle) Kilty of San Jose, California, Shawn (Sarah McGlynn) Kilty of Davenport, Iowa, and Steven Kilty of Tokyo, Japan; two brothers, Roger (Janet) of Naperville, Illinois, and Mark (Sharon) of East Peoria; two sisters, Kathleen Whitehouse of Weldon Spring, Missouri, and Jennifer (Scott) Moore of Edwards, Illinois; one granddaughter, Chloe of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Hoppa of Olathe, Kansas, and Ronald (Barbara) Hoppa of Ashley, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents.
Alan graduated from Southern Illinois University with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer at the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri from 1969 to 1979 and then at Caterpillar in Peoria from 1979 till his retirement in 2007.
Alan’s passion in retirement was being a mentor for First Robotics and First Lego League. He enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to Wisconsin, Florida, and Hawaii, playing cards, and working on home projects.
Alan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Men’s Club.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 09, 2017 between the hours of 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. A prayer service will take place at 6:45 PM. An additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alan’s memory may be made to Limestone Community High School, with designation for First Robotics Argos 1756; Sophia’s Kitchen; or to Holy Family Church.
