Obituary for Agatha Margaret Mary Hayden Bohls

PEORIA-Agatha Margaret Mary Hayden Bohls, 77, of Peoria, died at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at her home. She was born September 27, 1930 in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, Canada to Nicholas and Sarah Travis Hayden. She was enriched and proud of her Newfoundland heritage, being the granddaughter of a prominent sea captain and merchant and daughter of a well-known semi-professional soccer player. She was educated at Immaculate Conception Convent School receiving a degree in business. She was employed as a communication specialist in Gander, Newfoundland and later as a military correspondence specialist by the Northeast Air Command Deport in St. John’s, Newfoundland. In Peoria, she served as the manager of several commuter airlines a the Peoria Airport. Agatha married Marvin Bohls on June 14, 1953 in Harbour Grace. A loving spouse and mother, Agatha is survived by her husband; one daughter, Ann, of Peoria; and three sons, John of Evansville, Indiana, Eric (Melinda) of Peoria, and Scott (Angie) of Bellevue; seven grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Sarah, Stephanie, Brett, Sean and Ty; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Agatha spent many happy hours volunteering at OSF St. Francis and Cursillo Gift Shops. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, where she served in a variety of capacities at the Women’s Sodality. She also was a member of the Peoria Women’s Club, Hibernian Society, Catholic Women’s League and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She loved to golf and belonged to the Detweiller and American Cancer Society Golf Leagues. A Memorial Mass will be at 12 Noon on Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Rev. Jason Gray officiating. Inurnment of ashes will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Cremation rites accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
