PEORIA – James Wood Jr., 86, of Peoria, passed away at 7:54 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Proctor Hospital.

He was born on August 1, 1925, in Peoria, to James Sr. and Jessie (Haywood) Wood. He married Patricia A. Scudder in 1981 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one brother and one sister both of Florida.

James was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II attaining the rank of Corporal.

He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Peoria.

James was a meat cutter and manager for Ben Schwartz Food Mart.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Rev. Donald Henderson will officiate.
