Jane C Carney

Jean (Jane) Frances Carney, 93, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 2:40 a.m., at Lutheran Hillside Village. She was born in East Peoria, IL on July 25, 1918, a daughter of Charles E. and Julia Goggin Carter.

Jane graduated from St Mark’s Grade School, Academy of Our Lady, and attended Bradley University. She married Thomas J. Carney on August 25, 1945 at St. Mark’s Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1998 in Peoria, IL. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Kate Caulkins, in 1999.

Jane retired as Vice-President of Peoria Brick & Tile Co. in 1979 which was founded by her grandfather in 1899. Jane and Tom Carney purchased Peoria Brick in its entirety from the Carter family in 1965.

Jane was a former member of Delta Kappa Sorority, Sigma Delta Sorority, Ladies of St. Jude, Service Auxiliary of Proctor Hospital, Women’s Guild of St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Women’s League, Ivy Club, Mt. Hawley Country Club, Willow Knolls Country Club and Creve Coeur Club.

Survivors include her three children Kathy (Senn R.) Brown of Madison, WI, Thomas J. (Vicki) Carney, Jr. of Washington, IL, and Mary Pat (Stephen M.) Turner of Dunlap, IL , five grandchildren Kristine Brown of Madison, WI, Nicholas (Sarah Kanouse) Brown of Iowa City, IA, Kim (Kevin) Reece of Washington, IL, Michelle (Brandon) Peterson of Bourbonnais, IL, and Stephen (Jessica) Turner, Jr. of Denver, CO, two step-grandchildren Rachel (Scott) Brown of Torrey, UT and Ryan Droege of Chicago, IL, five great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

Jane was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where a funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Rev. Donald Henderson will be officiating.

Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

Wright and Salmon is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers,memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul School Endowment Fund.
