Francis A. Malpede, 82, of Peoria, died on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 12:49 a.m. at Proctor Community Hospital.
Born June 25, 1929 in Chicago to William and Louise Atherton Malpede, he married Carol Biederbeck on August 7, 1954 in Peoria. She survives along with three sons, Steve (Debbie) Malpede of Peoria, Joe (Tina) Malpede of Canton, and Jim (Kathy) Malpede of Glen Ellyn and four grandchildren; Carly, Will, Caroline, and Eli. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Lou) Malpede of La Grange.
Francis graduated from Bradley University in 1951 where he later earned a Master’s Degree in Education. He was a long time teacher and coach in the Peoria area, then worked at the Peoria County Sherriff’s Department in various capacities until his retirement.
He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War.
Francis was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Independent Sportsmen’s Club, 3rd Degree Spalding Council Knights of Columbus #427. He was also a member of the B Club and Dug Out Club at Bradley University.
A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul, with Msgr. Jason Gray officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Tuesday at the church.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
