PEORIA-Roger B. Nickerson, 84, of Peoria died at 9:15 a. m., Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1927 in Moline, IL to Beryl and Mary Conyne Nickerson. He married Phyllis J. Greer in Canton, IL on April 18, 1948. She survives. Roger is also survived by two sons; Randy (Mary) of Peoria and Timothy of Watauga, TX, five granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one daughter; Rhonda Errion and one brother; Norman.
Roger was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company from which he retired in 1985. He was a member of Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 399. He was a Pharmacist Mate in the U.S. Navy in WW II and in the Korean War.
He was a 60 year member and a Past President of SPEBSQSA, sang in various barbershop quartets for 30 years, and was a member of the Gavaliers.
Roger was a member of Shiller Lodge AF&AM, 330 Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Shrine of Peoria, Shrine Chanters, and Legion of Honor.
A Masonic Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 2 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
